Kari was born in 1981 in Mobile, Alabama. She grew up in a coastal community across Mobile Bay, Fairhope, where her summers and evenings were spent running in the gullies behind her house, climbing camphor and oak trees, playing with red clay mud and watching sunsets. She began drawing in 1996 with pencils and oil pastels and in 2000 went to school to study public relations and advertising at a holistic, liberal arts, Jesuit college in Mobile, Spring Hill College. She moved from Alabama to Washington, D.C. in 2004 to pursue a career in communications and in 2007 she started to create vibrant, expressive paintings with acrylics and oils and heavy mediums on canvas and wooden panels. To support her work she began to paint pieces for families, friends and colleagues in her free time as well as pieces that she donated to charities. She has had a few events in Washington including an art showing and fundraiser for Tracy's Kids - an art therapy program for children diagnosed with cancer and their families - at the office of BGR Group in 2013 as well as a solo show hosted by Art Soiree at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Georgetown in 2014. Her work has been displayed and featured in several prestigious private and public spaces including the White House Historical Association, the White House, The Shanti Yoga Ashram in Bethesda, Maryland and the Alabama House of Representatives in Montgomery, Alabama.

Description: The statue Lady of Freedom above the U.S. Capitol is by the bay in Fairhope, Alabama looking North West towards Mobile, Alabama. A woman is sitting behind her meditating and praying. An oak tree has been transformed into sage and is being burned to help heal and clear the space and is symbolic of the sacredness of the land...

Description: An eagle is standing in between two people and the three of them represent the elements of of water, wind and earth. The wings of the eagle are also the eyes of the sun - who represents fire - in the sky which represents ether/space.

Description: An eagle is in the sky above the Gulf of America overlooking Gulf State Park and looking at the sun set over Mobile Bay in Fairhope, Alabama in the distance. Kari grew up between these bodies of water. Soon after Kari painted this piece she was floating on her back in Mobile Bay and an eagle flew over her. Eagles used to be very prevalent years ago but now are rarely seen. 12x12"

Description: This piece was produced for a fourth generation family from Fairhope, Alabama.
The themes include preservation, sacredness, love and rebirth. Although Kari did not title the painting it is a depiction of a small beach front in Fairhope, Alabama and it expresses her love of Mobile Bay and her desire to see it respected, nurtured and restored to the rich biodiversity of its past. Description: This piece was produced for a former U.S. Senate colleague from Alabama. Kari painted this piece in 2019 in the community space in the basement of a holistic, yoga-centered ashram in Maryland where she was living at the time. She decided to create a painting based on Constitution Gardens located in Washington, D.C. which Kari began to frequently visit in the evenings and on weekends between 2015 and 2017. It is a place that she is drawn to spiritually and it reminds her of her childhood hometown in Alabama. She titled it "The Peacekeeper." Approximately 36 x 60" (commissioned)
