Description: This piece is titled "The Ashram" and was painted in early 2020 in The Garden Spa - a pop-up, private space by Skincando - where Kari Kant lived, worked, trained and practiced biodynamic/organic facials for a couple of months before turning to painting again. Notice the elements, the moon, the universe all moving around us all the time. From 2018 to the end of 2020 she primarily lived and practiced in the basement of an ashram in Maryland, the Shanti Yoga Ashram, where this painting is currently on display.
II. A Selection of Past Works by Kari Kant
Kari Kant began teaching herself to paint circa 2008 after growing up drawing and writing and later studying communications arts. Below is a selection of works that she created for her portfolio, charities and private commissions circa 2008 and 2021. All of her work produced prior to 2021 is spread among private and public collections.
Description: This piece was produced in 2021 for a fourth generation family from Fairhope, Alabama.
The themes include preservation, sacredness, love and rebirth. Although Kari Kant did not title the painting it is a depiction of a small beach front in Fairhope, Alabama and it expresses love Mobile Bay and her desire to see it respected, nurtured and restored to the rich biodiversity of its past.
Description: This piece was produced for a former U.S. Senate colleague from Alabama. Kari Kant painted this piece in 2019 in a ceremonial space in the basement of an ashram in Maryland. She decided to create a painting based on Constitution Gardens located in Washington, D.C. which Kant began to frequently visit in the evenings and on weekends between 2015 and 2017. It is a place that she is drawn to spiritually and it reminds her of her childhood hometown in Alabama. She titled it "The Peacekeeper."
